Hunter Folsom Lacey
Founder + Executive Director
Hunter’s brother Chase, who has Congenital Encephalopathy, has been the inspiration behind many elements of her career. She has always felt at home in the IDD community. It wasn’t until recent years, especially in grad school, when Hunter realized that art and disability could meet perfectly.
A coworker of hers told her about Creative Growth in Oakland, CA and she instantly knew she wanted to try to make it happen in Dallas.
Hunter received her BA in Psychology from Pepperdine University and her MA in New Media Photojournalism from George Washington University. Her graduate thesis looked at the positive impact of employment for adults with disabilities. She has a background in photography, fiber art, and education.
Annabelle Folsom
Lead Teacher
Chase’s other sister Annabelle has been an artist since she first picked up a pencil. She has years of experience teaching and assisting children’s painting and drawing classes and approaches each student with a productive and personalized mindset. Her personal art practice focuses on contradictory juxtaposition and the excitement that can be found in the happenings and emotions of everyday life.
While primarily a painter, she has experience in multiple art mediums and is always excited to help students explore their art-making in whatever techniques call to them.
